It’s the famous question we hear all the time from our patients, “should I brush my teeth first, or floss first”? While some people don’t think there is an ideal sequence to this hygiene routine, studies have come to find that flossing before brushing may be the best option to remove dental plaque and keeping your mouth as clean as possible.
Why, you may ask? This sequence can be more ideal because flossing initially loosens the breaks up the plaque on your teeth, while brushing afterwards allows you to get the plaque out of those crevices. This two step process makes the perfect pair for getting your mouth squeaky clean!
Here’s some other essential information about the daily habit of brushing or flossing your teeth:
You should be brushing and flossing at least 2 times a day, brushing for a full 2 minutes
Use fluoride toothpaste and mouthwash
Don’t forget to brush your tongue to rid bad breath and bacteria!
