Spring break is coming up soon, and if you like to plan ahead you’ve already started to think about packing. I’m sure you’ve already checked all of the popular spring break items off of your list; bathing suits, flip flops, beach towels, etc. However, if you have braces, you should have a few extra items added to your packing list. If you have braces or are travelling with someone with braces, here are a list of things to add to your packing list.
Travel toothbrush
Mini bottle of mouth rinse
Orthodontic wax, in case of any discomfort
A small mirror, to keep with you at all times, for examining any possible issues
An extra set of aligners, if you are an Invisalign patient
Another thing to keep in mind when planning for your spring break trip, is packing braces-friendly snacks and being cautious when eating out during your trip. Without your orthodontist nearby, the last thing that you want to have to deal with on an out-of-town trip is a problem with your braces. Remember to stay away from chewy or gummy foods, apples and other whole fruits, hard rolls or bread, hard snacks and pretzels, and nuts.
If you are on your trip and run into a problem with your braces or Invisalign, call to see if there is anything we can do to help, or schedule an appointment for when you return to town. If you are having pain or discomfort, find a local orthodontist to see if they are able to relieve any pain so you can enjoy the rest of your trip.
Add these items to your packing list so you are prepared for anything you may need on your trip. Have a safe and fun spring break!
